STUART, VA : Stuart man dies after crash on Route 835 on Saturday, February 18th 2017

The Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash in Patrick County.

According to information from the VSP, the incident occurred at about 10:10 a.m. Saturday on Route 835, less than a mile south of U.S. 58.

A 1997 Honda CRV was traveling north on Route 835 when it ran off the left side of the road. The vehicle struck a highway sign and then an air conditioning unit adjacent to a Pioneer Community Hospital building, according to the VSP.

The driver, a 36-year-old male from Stuart, was taken to Pioneer Community Hospital, where he died a short time later. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation by VSP Trooper R.E. Dillon.
