Three killed, one injured in crash south of Fountain
Steven Smythe, a 28-year-old Grand Junction man, died in a motorcycle crash Saturday on Colorado Highway 141.The Mesa County Coroner's Office on Sunday identified Smythe as the man killed in the accident near milemarker 143.The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash.Three people died and another was in critical condition after a one-car crash Sunday on Interstate 25 south of Fountain, according to the Colorado State Patrol.A dark green sedan was traveling south and drifted off the left side of the roadway into the center median and struck a guardrail before rolling 1½ times at about 6:50 a.m., according to the State Patrol.The driver, a 23-year-old woman from Pueblo, wasn't wearing a seat belt and was pinned under the vehicle. She was taken to Memorial Hospital Central with moderate to serious injuries.The passengers — two males and one female, who also were not wearing seat belts — were thrown from the vehicle when it overturned and were killed.The patrol is withholding names of those in the car, pending notification of their families.
