A 77-year-old man was killed in a crash Friday night in Grant County, officials said.
The Grant County Sheriff's Department said deputies responded to a report of a crash at about 8 p.m. on Highway 151 near Clay Hollow Road in the town of Paris.
According to the report, Ashley N. Bauer, 27, of Hedrick, Iowa, was driving a white 2012 Dodge Ram truck pulling a horse trailer, hyeaded north on Highway 151. At the intersection of Highway 151 and Clay Hollow Road the truck struck the driver’s side of a black Volkswagen Jetta. James L. Smucker was driving the Jetta and 66-year-old Orpha Smucker was a passenger in the car. Both are from Harrisburg, Oregon.
James Smucker was pronounced deceased at the scene, the sheriff's office said. Orpha Smucker was taken to Southwest Health Center in Platteville and later taken by Med Flight to Madison.
Bauer reported no injuries, according to the report. The two horses in the trailer appeared uninjured, officials said.
The Grant County Sheriff's Office said northbound traffic on Highway 151 was closed from the Dickeyville exit to Airport Road. Traffic was redirected east on County Road HH. Highway 151 was reopen by about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said no arrests or charges had been made Saturday and the crash was still under investigation.
