DALLAS, TX : Dallas police officer hospitalized after crash on Monday, May 29, 2017
A police officer was taken to the hospital for treatment after colliding with a white pickup that forced his vehicle into Fivemile Creek at Pecan Grove Park, according to published reports.
Passing bystanders rushed to help the officer following the crash, WFAA reported.The officer was awake and talking prior to being taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center for treatment on Monday, according to Rebecca Lopez, WFAA reporter. The officer was listed in critical condition, a news release from Dallas police said.The wreck occurred about 2:15 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the 3100 block of South Westmoreland Road near Kiest Boulevard, a news release from Dallas police said. The pickup, a 2007 white Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling west in the 3300 block of West Pentagon Parkway and failed to yield the right of way, and then collided with the patrol car.
The impact caused the patrol car to leave the roadway and fall into the creek below, the release said. The suspect, possibly an African-American man, left the location and officers in the area are searching for him, the release said.
