Dothan, AL : Cottonwood man killed in single-vehicle crash on Monday, 5th September 2016

A Cottonwood man died Monday in a single-vehicle crash in Houston County.
According to a statement from Alabama State Trooper Kevin Cook, the crash occurred when the 2002 Mercury Cougar driven by 24-year-old Franklin Daniel Cannon III left the roadway and overturned.
The statement said Cannon, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead a short after the crash. The preliminary investigation shows alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors to the crash, the statement said. The crash occurred around 2:20 p.m. Monday on Fletcher Smith Road four miles northwest of Cottonwood.
The crash remains under investigation by troopers with the Alabama Highway Patrol.
