1 dead in motorcycle crash on south I-5 at E Street

A 43-year-old Imperial Beach man was killed in a motorcycle crash on a South Bay freeway exit ramp Friday, authorities said.
The man's body and heavily damaged motorcycle were found along the southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to E Street about 6:15 a.m., although it was unknown when the crash occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
The rider of a 2008 Honda CBR1000 was traveling at an unknown speed and was unable to negotiate the turn on the off-ramp, then crashed and was thrown from his vehicle, CHP Officer Tommy Doerr said.
He died at the scene, authorities said. His name was withheld pending family notification.
One lane of the E Street offramp was temporarily closed due to the accident, and a Sig Alert was lifted shortly after 9 a.m.
