Lexington , KY : One Person Killed and two others injured in Crash with Danville fire vehicle on Friday morning ,May , 8th 2015
One person is dead and at least two others injured in a Friday morning crash involving a Danville fire vehicle en route to a fire that collided with a 3-wheeler and another vehicle in the intersection of Hustonville Road and the bypass.
The collision occurred about 10:30 a.m. as the fire department's SUV was traveling with sirens and lights activated to a car fire near Cheddar's restaurant.
The fire vehicle appeared to have nearly cleared the intersection when it collided with the motorcycle and then head-on into a Nissan SUV that was in the northbound turning lane.
The driver of the motorcycle, who was not immediately identified, was killed, Danville Police Chief Tony Gray said. Another person, a woman who may have been a passenger on the motorcycle, was airlifted from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Gray said.
A person in the fire vehicle was taken via ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of undetermined injuries, said Mike Wilder, director of emergency management.
None of the names of those involved in the crash were immediately available, pending notification of next of kin, Gray said.
Kentucky State Police are in charge of the investigation because of the involvement of a city fire vehicle, Gray said.
