Wilmington, DE : Three people seriously injured in head-on crash in Bear on Tuesday afternoon, September 27, 2016

Three people, two of which became entrapped, were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when two vehicles collided head-on in Bear, paramedics said.

Just before 5 p.m., New Castle County Paramedics responded to the area of Reybold Road and Sunset Lake Road following reports of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment, according to spokeswoman Sgt. Abigail Haas.

A 73-year-old man and a 27-year-old man were both freed by firefighters from the Christiana Fire Company utilizing the Jaws of Life, Haas said. The men were treated for various injuries before being transported to Christiana Hospital in serious condition, Haas said.

A 5-year-old female passenger of the same vehicle as the 27-year-old male was treated on scene by the paramedics for head and possible internal injuries. She was transported to the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Rockland by state police helicopter in critical condition.

Delaware State Police troopers were on the scene investigating the incident.
