Marion,AL: Eight months after alleged DUI crash, driver charged with killing East Bay woman on October, Monday 16th 2017
Contra Costa prosecutors have filed manslaughter and DUI charges against a woman who allegedly crashed her car while driving drunk, killing a passenger who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
Lexus Taylor, 22, was charged last week with vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended or revoked license. The case was filed in relation to a Jan. 29 single-vehicle crash that killed 21-year-old Jessica Green.
According to police at the time, Taylor was driving a 2003 Lexus westbound on I-80 in Richmond. As she approached the Cutting Boulevard exit around 11:30 p.m., the Lexus crashed and ended up flipping upside-down. Green, who authorities say wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was ejected. She died after being taken to a trauma center.
Taylor, who is listed in an arrest report as a security guard, reportedly suffered extensive injuries in the crash. CHP officials said at the time they discovered she’d been driving with a blood/alcohol level higher than the legal limit and would be pursuing felony charges, but prosecutors didn’t file the case until Oct. 3.
