Racine, WI : Robert Castaneda, 45, stuck, killed by hit-and-run driver Thursday night, December 25, 2014
A Racine man awaiting sentencing in a felony drug case was charged Friday with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle in a Christmas Day hit-and-run.
Bradley A. Hayek, 31, was released from the Racine County Jail on Friday afternoon on a $50,000 bond, according to online court records.
He is due back in court Monday in connection with the death of Robert Castaneda, 45, also of Racine.
Castaneda was walking in the 900 block of Romayne Ave. in Racine about 9:30 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a vehicle, according to police. He died a short time later at a hospital.
Hayek was arrested a few blocks away on charges that include homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and hit-and-run, police said.
Court records show the drug charges were filed against Hayek in Racine County in September 2013. He pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and is scheduled to be sentenced in that case on Jan. 29.
