Memphis ,TN : Two womens hit by car and driver Charged after while crossing near Overton Park on Thursday evening ,May 7th 2015

Two women, who were using a crosswalk near Overton Park, were hit by a car on Thursday evening. The driver now faces several charges.

Many runners and walkers say the intersection of Cooper Street and Poplar Avenue in Midtown is one of the most difficult areas to cross.

"A lot of people are in a hurry on Poplar Avenue," said Barry Roberson, with Breakaway Running. "There is one sidewalk headed east, no sidewalk headed west toward the main entrance to Overton Park."

Some people say they want to see more done to ensure safety at the intersection.

"It's not a very safe interaction at all," said Katie McMurty.

McMurty was walking her dog to Overton Park on Thursday when she came across the accident.
