Terre Haute, IN : Woman minor injuries after 2-vehicle crash in Shelburn on Tuesday, April 4, 2017
Sullivan County sheriff's deputies responded to a personal-injury crash just before noon Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Broadway Street.
A semi truck, driven by Scott McMasters of Cayuga, was southbound on U.S. 41 when a westbound pick-up truck pulled into the semi's path. McMasters applied the brakes and steered hard right in an attempt to avoid the pick-up, but the two collided. Both vehicles came to rest in a grassy area. The driver of the pick-up was identified as Shelburn resident Kathryn Nelson, who was treated for minor injuries.
Deputy Ron Elliott was the primary investigating officer, with Deputy Eric Valdez and Sheriff Clark Cottom assisting. Cottom said had the semi driver not reacted so quickly, the crash could have ended in a tragedy. The deputies were assisted by Curry Township firefighters and the Sullivan County Ambulance Team.
