Passenger killed, driver hurt in Kissimmee crash

One person was killed and another critically injured in a traffic crash in Kissimmee Sunday afternoon.

The crash near the intersection of Buenaventura Boulevard and Buttonwood Drive shut down traffic in both directions on Buenaventura for several hours.

At about 5:30 p.m., an Acura driven by 27-year-old Jon Andrews of Ocoee crossed the center median and hit another car almost head-on, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A passenger in the Acura, St. Cloud resident Cody Perry, 23, died. Andrews was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Two men in the other car were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
