A two-vehicle crash near Leesburg resulted in multiple injuries Tuesday afternoon.
According to Kosciusko County Sherriff’s Department, Quinn S. Crough, 20, Milford, was traveling west on C.R. 700 North in a white, 1998 Ford Econoline van, approaching the intersection of C.R. 200 East, when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone as it was slowing directly in front of him.
Police said a blue, 2013 Ford Focus, driven by Benito Lorenzo, 34, Aurora, Illinois, attempted to cross the intersection northbound on C.R. 200 East at the time. Lozano’s vehicle was struck on the passenger’s side by Crough’s van at approximately 2:56 p.m.
Emergency personnel arrived and extracted five individuals from the two vehicles.
Lozano and his passenger, Josh Loetz, 18, Cromwell, were both airlifted from the scene in critical condition with head injuries.
Also injured inside the Crough van was Mathes Torres Amado, 19, Syracuse, and Matthew G. Hamman, 21, Leesburg. Crough, Amado and Hamman were all taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and are reportedly in stable condition.
The crash is still under investigation.
