LITTLETON, MA : Tanker truck rolls on top of car in interstate crash on Thursday, December, 28th 2017

A motorist on a Massachusetts interstate was seriously injured when a tanker truck carrying home heating oil overturned on top of his car.

Police say the driver of the car was changing lanes on Interstate 495 in Littleton on Wednesday when he collided with the truck. Investigators say the truck driver tried to avoid the crash, but ended up rolling on top of the car.

Police say the driver of the car, a 41-year-old Salisbury man, was trapped in the wreckage for more than an hour. After being rescued, he was flown to a hospital for treatment.

The truck driver, a 52-year-old Gardner man, was also hospitalized.

Hazmat teams were called in to clean up oil that spilled from the tanker.
