Amity ,OR : Woman dies, drivers seriously hurt in head-on crash along Hwy 153 on Thursday ,July 3rd 2015

A woman died Thursday and two others were seriously hurt in a head-on crash on Highway 153 in rural Yamhill County.

Troopers said Arlie Eliis, 74, of Stayton was driving a Subaru Legacy on the Amity-Hopewell Highway (Hwy 153) when Ellis crossed the center line around milepost 13 and struck a Toyota Prius head-on.

Ellis’ passenger, 75-year-old Marion Ellis, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arlie and the Toyota’s driver, 58-year-old Richard Mafit, were both taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police closed the highway for about three hours while emergency crews cleared the scene.
