DAVENPORT, FL : At least 1 dead in multiple-vehicle collision in U.S. 27 just south of South Boulevard and RWS Ranch Road on Friday, 13th December, 2019
An 81-year-old Haines City woman was killed Friday morning in a multiple-vehicle crash on U.S. 27 just south of South Boulevard and RWS Ranch Road in Davenport, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.U.S. 27 was blocked and traffic was diverted.
FHP reports say that a 2012 Peterbilt truck driven by Gary Wayne Swanner, 45, of Lakeland, was traveling eastbound on South Boulevard West approaching U.S. 27, and allegedly failed to properly observe a stop sign, entering into the intersection of U.S. 27.
The Peterbilt traveled into the path of a 2006 Mack tractor-trailer driven by Felix A. Tirado Pacheco, 27, of Davenport, who was headed southbound on U.S. 27. Pacheco swerved to avoid a collision and lost control, entering the left turn lane, where the truck collided with the rear end of a 2016 Lexus SUV driven by Kelly Elizabeth Bucher, 29, of Clermont, who was traveling southbound and preparing to turn onto South Boulevard West.
The truck then rotated to a final rest in the northbound lanes of U.S. 27, and collided with the front of a 2004 Cadillac driven by Delmar Ray Wells, 64, of Haines City, which was headed northbound on U.S. 27, approaching South Boulevard West.Swanner suffered no injuries, according to FHP reports, and was wearing a seatbelt. Preliminary investigation of his part in the crash revealed it wasn’t alcohol related.
