Des Moines County, IA : Des Moines County Sheriff deputy injured in crash on Monday, 18th November, 2019

A Des Moines County sheriff's deputy is injured after striking a semi Monday, about 15 miles west of Burlington.

The Iowa State Patrol responded to the crash at about 12:16 p.m. on Des Moines County Highway 79, west of Jimtown Road, according to a news release. Lt. Clint Williams, 51, who was eastbound crashed into a semi pulling a grain trailer after crossing into the westbound lane.

Iowa State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Alex Dinkla said the deputy was on duty and in his marked patrol car.

Williams was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospital. The other driver sustained no injuries.
