Three people were injured, one critically, in a crash this morning in Miami County, Indiana State Police said.
State police responded to the report of a crash around 8 a.m. at U.S. 31 and Miami County Road 800 South, state police at Peru said in a statement.
Police said Zachary Straub, 17, of Peru, was driving south on U.S. 31, turned east and attempted to cross the north lanes of U.S. 31 onto County Road 800 South. For an undetermined reason, they said, he pulled into the path of a car going north driven by Jeffrey Crockett, 39, of Indianapolis.
Both cars rolled onto their roofs and landed in a ditch in the northeast corner of the intersection, the statement said.
Crockett and Straub were both taken to Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru with non-life threatening injuries. Straub's passenger, Austin Straub, 14, also of Peru, was extricated from the car and flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
