Carlisle, PA : A man was killed in a crash on Tuesday, July 25, 2017

A man was killed in a crash that closed I-81 Tuesday afternoon.

State Police at Carlisle have not released the name of the victim pending the notification of the next of kin.

Police said the motorcyclist and a commercial vehicle were both being driving north on the highway near mile marker 52 at about 2:40 p.m., when they came upon traffic that had slowed due to congestion.

The motorcyclist attempted to change lanes and crashed into the rear of the commercial vehicle.

He was treated on scene by Silver Spring Ambulance and transported to Hershey Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
