Beaumont, TX : Vidor motorcycle rider could lose leg after Friday crash on Friday, 14th October 2016
A 62-year-old Vidor man could lose his leg after a three-vehicle collision Friday morning in Orange County, according to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The accident -- involving a 1996 Ford pickup truck, a 1999 Chevrolet Corvette and a 2002 Honda motorcycle -- happened just before 6:30 a.m. on FM 105 near Old Spanish Trail, according to the DPS.
The driver of the Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound on FM 105, followed by the driver of the Corvette. The Honda motorcycle rider was traveling in the northbound lanes.
The driver of the Corvette hit the motorcycle rider while passing the Ford, according to the DPS.
After striking the motorcycle, the Corvette came back into the southbound lanes and hit the Ford pickup, the DPS reported.
The motorcycle rider, identified as a 62-year-old Vidor man, was taken by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He could lose one of his legs, according to the DPS.
The 23-year-old Vidor man driving the Ford pickup truck was not hurt, according to the DPS.
The 56-year-old Beaumont man driving the Corvette was also not injured, according to DPS. He was given a ticket for passing to the left when unsafe, the DPS reported.
