Three people were hurt, two seriously, in a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 15 south of Findlay around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, the Findlay post of the State Highway Patrol reported.
Philip Gardner, 16, of Findlay, was driving a 2014 Tesla north on Hancock County 180 and stopped at the eastbound lanes of Ohio 15, the patrol reported.
Gardner crossed the eastbound lanes, but failed to yield to a westbound 2007 Jeep, the patrol said. The vehicles collided and went off the northwest corner of the intersection, the patrol said.
The Jeep went through a ditch and rolled over, trapping both occupants and requiring the Arlington Fire Department to extricate them, the patrol said.
The Jeep driver, Jerry McClain, 60, and his passenger, Jane McClain, 58, both of Logan, were seriously injured and were transported by medical helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, the patrol reported.
Gardner’s family took him to Blanchard Valley Hospital for minor injuries, the patrol said.
The accident remains under investigation.
Ohio 15’s westbound lanes were closed as emergency personnel worked at the crash scene, opening to traffic at 3 p.m., the patrol reported.
