Two people were killed in a crash on eastbound I-694 in Fridley
The Minnesota State Patrol said two people were killed in a crash on eastbound I-694 in Fridley Friday night.
The rear-end crash was reported around 8:15 p.m. on the interstate at Matterhorn Drive. According to the state patrol, a vehicle was speeding when it hit the back end of a semi.
Names of the two people killed have not been released. The driver of the semi, Steven Pothen, 68, of Wadena, had no apparent injuries, the state patrol reported.
The eastbound lanes of 694 were expected to be shut down until at least 11:30 p.m., starting at Central Avenue. All traffic was being diverted to MN-65/Central Avenue.
No further details have been released.
