Darke County sheriff deputies are investigating after a school bus and car collided Wednesday morning.

Investigators say the Tri-Village school bus was making a turn onto State Route 121 after picking up a student in a private lane when the car was unable to make a quick stop on the icy roadway and struck it. Deputies tell Bluebag Media that the car slammed into the rear of the bus and slid down an embankment.

45 students were on board at the time. A 15-year-old girl was removed to the hospital to be checked out. No other students were hurt. The bus driver, Mary Boone, 58, of New Madison, was not hurt either. The students were heading to school after a two hour delay.

The driver of the car, Laura Hall, 38, of New Madison, was taken to Wayne HealthCare for treatment of her injuries.
