Hockessin, DE : Man extricated from truck after Delaware head-on collision Tuesday night on September 23, 2014
Paramedics have rescued a man trapped in his pickup truck in Hockessin following a head-on collision involving a suspected drunk driver.
Officials say fire crews worked for nearly a half-hour to extricate 40-year-old Jeremy Delmatto of Wilmington from his truck early Wednesday. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital. It's unclear if Delmatto was properly restrained.
Delaware State Police say the crash happened late Tuesday night when 49-year-old Timothy Cairns of Hockessin crossed the center line on a local road and entered the other lanes of traffic.
That's when Cairns' and Delmatto's trucks collided.
Cairns was not injured. Troopers cited him with drunken driving and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Cairns did not return a phone message left at his home.
