Hinds County, MS : One person died in crash on Hwy. 18, near Old Port Gibson Road on Saturday, December 3, 2016

MHP reports an accident on Hwy. 18 that has claimed the life of one person.

Corporal Eric Henry with MHP says authorities responded to the accident around 5:30 p.m. on Hwy. 18, near Old Port Gibson Road in Hinds County.

Henry said a Ford Ranger was traveling east on Hwy. 18 and a Ford Excursion was traveling west, when the Excursion hydroplaned, lost control and struck the Ford Ranger in the eastbound lane.

Corporal Henry identified the deceased driver of the Ford Ranger as 31-year-old Orlando Nichols of Jackson.

The passenger of the Ranger was taken to UMMC with injuries.

The unidentified driver and passenger of the Excursion was transported to Baptist with minor injuries.
