Graysville,AL : One injured after truck crashed off Hwy 78 bridge, into creek on December, Thursday 21st 2017

A large truck crashed off a bridge on Highway 78 Thursday, leading to a water rescue for one person trapped inside the wreckage.

It happened about 5:00pm on the bridge that crosses Fivemile Creek in the Graysville area.

The truck ended up on the banks of the creek, with the cab of the truck partially in the water.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's office says one person was injured, and rescued from the wreckage.

The Graysville Fire Department says that person was lifted back up to the roadway, and transported to a hospital.

The extent of the injuries to that person is unknown.

The westbound lanes of Highway 78 in that area were closed, but eastbound lanes remained open.
