Litchfield, NY : 44-year-old man killed in snowmobile crash on central New York trail on Tuesday night, February 3, 2015

State police say a 44-year-old man has been killed in a snowmobile accident on a central New York trail.

Troopers say Raymond Barretta of New Hartford was riding last Tuesday night on a trail in the southern Herkimer County town of Litchfield, near Utica.

Witnesses told police that Barretta was going too fast for the conditions and crashed off the trail on a curve. The snowmobile hit a tree, ejecting Barretta.

Troopers say he was pronounced dead at the scene.
