Craig, CO : A male driver was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Tuesday, August 15, 2017

A male driver was killed in a single-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon on US Highway 40, according to a news release from Colorado State Patrol.

At about 2:12 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Highway 40 near milepost 159 in Grand County, about 24 miles west of Kremmling.

A silver 2002 Chevrolet K2500 pickup driven by Jason Christensen, 36, of White Rocks, Utah, was traveling eastbound, driving off the left side of the road at a high rate of speed for a yet-unknown reason.

The Colorado Department of Transportation had paving equipment parked on the wide paved shoulder. The CDOT asphalt paving roller was parked on the far edge of the pull out. The silver 2002 Chevrolet collided head-on with the parked paving roller. Christensen, the truck’s only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol. Speed may be a contributing factor, but at this time it is unknown if impairment is a factor to the crash.
