NAPLES, FL : Naples woman ejected from car after fatal crash on Sunday, January 29th 2017
A single-vehicle fatal crash occurred in Naples Sunday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.It happened at 7:32 a.m. near the intersection of Livingston and Vanderbilt Beach Roads.
Troopers say 78-year-old Janet S Eash of Naples drifted across the westbound lanes of Vanderbilt Beach Road into the north shoulder, into and out of a dry canal bed, and striking a water line.
They say Eash then continued west through an embankment on the east shoulder of Livingston Road, hitting an electrical box, and then her vehicle overturned.
She was ejected from her vehicle.
Authorities say her overturned vehicle continued moving west and finally stopped inside the northbound lane of Livingston Road.
Eash was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the crash, according to FHP.
It's unknown if alcohol was involved in the crash.
The victim was not wearing her seatbelt, troopers say.
Livingston Road north of Vanderbilt Beach Road was blocked for several hours but has since been reopened.
A water main break was also reported at this intersection as well as a couple miles north at Immokalee Road.
