TUCSON, AZ : Deputies responding to single-vehicle crash on Cardinal, Bilby on Wednesday, 7th April 2021

On Wednesday, April 7, at about 3:40 p.m., a deputy with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop a Buick SUV on Bilby Road near Camino De La Tierra in Tucson’s south-side for a traffic violation.

According to reports, the vehicle did not stop, and the deputy did not pursue it due to department policy.

The SUV then continued eastbound on Bilby at high speed and drove through the stop sign at Cardinal Avenue and Bilby Road. It then left the roadway and after going through a chain-link fence, the SUV collided with a residence in the 2800 block of West Bilby Road.

One resident was home at the time of the incident, but neither the resident nor the driver were injured.
