A wrong-way driver hit a tractor-trailer on Interstate 85 and landed in the hospital early Tuesday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Cpl. Bill Rhyne said the crash happened just after 4 a.m. at mile marker 57, which is near the Highway 101 exit.
Rhyne said Tommy Campbell, 50, of Williamston, was driving a 2013 Hyundai heading north in the southbound lanes of I-85 when he came upon the tractor-trailer.
Campbell's car hit the tractor-trailer near the front, but Rhyne said it was not a head-on collision.
Campbell was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, but there was no word on his condition.
