RANKIN COUNTY, MS : A 68-year-old Pelahatchie woman has died in an accident in Rankin County on Friday, August 11, 2017
A 68-year-old Pelahatchie woman has died in an accident in Rankin County. Polly Schneider was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 4 Friday on Holly Bush Road.
It appears the KIA ran off the roadway and hit a tree. Three children were passengers. They were injured and had to be extricated from the van.
The investigation continues into what caused the accident.
Lt. Craig Williams with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department said,
"It's hard to say at this time. I haven't had a chance to speak to, I don't know if there were any witnesses or anything or even speak to the other people who were in the vehicle that were transported prior to my arrival," said Lt. Craig Williams with the Rankin County Sheriff's Department.
Rankin County Coroner David Ruth tells us Schneider died from blunt force trauma. The three children in the van are being treated at Batson Hospital at UMMC. We are told they should all recover.
They are Schneider's great grandchildren.
