Orlando, FL : One woman dead, two injured after a car crash in Lake County on Saturday night, August 6, 2016
One woman is dead and two more people are seriously injured after a Lake County car crash late Saturday night, troopers say.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Michael Chapin, 68, and Gail Chapin, 59, were headed west in a Chevy pickup truck along County Road 44A just before the wreck.
At the same time, 34-year-old Ryan Reich was driving eastbound on that road, with passengers Thomas Reich, 60, and Jane Reich, 59, all of Eustis, troopers say.
At about 11:20 p.m., Michal Chapin tried to turn left onto Johns Lane, when his truck traveled into the direct path of Reich's vehicle, said Sgt. Kim Montes in a news release.
The front of the four-door Chevy struck the passenger side of the truck, and Gail Chapin, of Eustis, was pronounced deceased, said Montes.
Michael Chapin, also of Eustis, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, according to FHP.
Ryan Reich was not injured and neither was passenger Thomas Reich, Montes said.
Jane Reich also sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, troopers say.
According to Montes, charges are pending as troopers continue to investigate the crash.
