Waco, TX : Pedestrian killed in collision with vehicle near U.S. Highway 84 on Tuesday night, March 28, 2017
A Bellmead woman was killed after she exited a vehicle and was struck by an ongoing vehicle Tuesday night, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
Rachel Crain, 36, was traveling with family near U.S. Highway 84 and Aviation Parkway before she exited the vehicle and ended up laying in the roadway. The driver of a southbound Chevrolet pickup truck on Aviation Parkway was unable to see Crain in the roadway and struck the woman, killing her, Swanton said.
It was unclear whether Crain got out of the vehicle under her own power, or what led to her getting out of the vehicle. Swanton said the pickup driver immediately stopped and Crain's husband attempted to revive Crain, but attempts were unsuccessful.
"It is believed that alcohol use on the part of the pedestrian (Crain) may have played a part in her death," Swanton said.
