Sabetha, KS : Two people killed in a car crash on US-75 highway in Brown County on Wednesday afternoon, February 24, 2016
Two people were killed Wednesday afternoon in a car crash on US-75 highway and 280th, near Sabetha, according to Brown County Sheriff John Merchant.
The crash occurred at 11:42 a.m. when a westbound Ford SUV headed failed to stop at a stop sign, entered US-75 highway and was struck broadside by a Dodge truck, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol’s crash log.
Douglas Rehfeld, 47, of Overland Park, was driving the Ford. James Hunter, 80, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, was the driver of the Dodge.
Both men, who were wearing seat belts, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A second occupant of the Dodge, Carol Martin, 70, of Council Bluffs, was taken to Sabetha Hospital with injuries.
