HARTFORD, CT : Four hurt, including Shelton man, state trooper, in I-91 crash on Tuesday, 28th April, 2020
Four people were injured in a crash on I-91 South Tuesday night, including a Shelton resident and a state trooper, according to state police.
A Connecticut State Police cruiser, driven by Trooper Chandler Chasse, was parked with its emergency lights on in the left lane of a closed construction zone near Exit 27 in Hartford just after 9:30 p.m., Trooper Kevin Curry said in a release.
Two Toyota Tacomas, one driven by Joao Paiva, 57, of Shelton, the other operated by Manuel Freitas, 54, of Waterbury, were parked in front of it.
According to the report, a Saturn Aura XE, driven by James Cruz, 42, of Meriden, entered the closed construction zone while driving on I-91, striking the barrier, then the cruiser, which bounced forward and hit one of the trucks, which then struck the other.
