Charles County, MD : Maryland state trooper escapes burning patrol car after crash Saturday October 8 2016

A Maryland state police trooper escaped her burning patrol car Saturday morning after a collision with another car that hospitalized both drivers.

The trooper, Constance Davis, 25, who works out of Charles County, was listed in fair condition Saturday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The other driver, James Cousins, 75, of Waldorf, was reported in critical condition at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, according to police and hospital officials.

According to an initial investigation, Davis was driving her marked cruiser eastbound on Smallwood Drive in the Waldorf area shortly after 2 a.m. Her emergency lights were activated, and she was trying to stop a speeding motorist, according to police officials.
