Las Vegas, NV : Man hit and killed by a car near Alta Drive and Easy Street on Friday, March 18, 2016

Authorities say a man was lying or sitting down in a Las Vegas street before he was fatally hit by a car.

Police say the pedestrian-vehicle accident happened Friday just after 8 p.m. near Alta Drive and Easy Street.

According to witnesses and evidence, the 64-year-old man was occupying an eastbound lane when a Pontiac Trans Sport came upon him.

Police say a vehicle in front of the Pontiac swerved to avoid the man but the 52-year-old male driver of the Pontiac ran over him.

Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

His identity has not been released.

No charges have been filed against the driver.

The collision remains under investigation.

The incident is the 26th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas this year.
