Casa Grande, AZ : Infant ejected in I-10 accident near CG on Wednesday night, April 27, 2016

An infant was ejected from a vehicle after an accident Wednesday night on Interstate 10 near the McCartney Road exit, authorities said.

The infant was flown to Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix for non-life threatening injuries along with a man who was traveling with the infant, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
It is not known if the infant was in a car seat or not.

The accident was reported at about 10:45 p.m. after a motorist traveling in the freeway’s eastbound lane had lost control and struck another vehicle in the eastbound lane. This caused the second vehicle to cross over the median and collide with a vehicle driving in the westbound lane.

The infant was on board the vehicle in the westbound lane. It is unknown what caused the first motorist to lose control and DPS is investigating whether criminal charges are warranted.
The accident closed off the freeway’s westbound lanes until 3 a.m. on Thursday.
