A crash involving several vehicles shut down westbound Interstate 4 at mile marker 121 between Daytona Beach and DeLand late Friday afternoon.
Several emergency vehicles were on the scene where a number of vehicles were involved in multiple accidents.The accidents created miles-long backups on both sides of the interstate from about 5 p.m. to 10:45 p.m.Florida Highway Patrol troopers said they responded to nine crashes along I-4 between mile marker 121 and mile marker 127.
Four of the crashes happened on the westbound side of I-4 and five of the crashes on the eastbound side of I-4.Troopers said a preliminary county has a total of 26 vehicles involved.At least two people were taken to the hospital, but FHP said their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
