IRVING TOWNSHIP, MI : 5 injured, 1 airlifted in Barry Co. crash on Thursday, 4th July 2019

A Barry County woman seriously injured in a crash that also sent four other people to the hospital has died.

The Barry County Sheriff’s Office says Lori A. Russell of Freeport died Friday, a day after her Dodge Caravan was hit at Eckert Road and Wood School Road in Irving Township, near Middleville.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. Thursday.

The sheriff’s office said a Dodge Journey was heading northbound on Wood School Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the Eckert Road intersection. The vehicle crashed into Russell’s Dodge Caravan, which was heading east.

Russell, 53, was airlifted to the hospital.

Four people inside the Journey — a 53-year-old man, a 48-year-old woman, a 54-year-old woman and a 53-year-old woman, all from Battle Creek — were taken to hospitals by ambulance. Their conditions are unknown.
