Sheffield, OH : Two men injured in head-on crash on Interstate 90 on Tuesday July 29th 2014
Interstate 90 eastbound near State Route 611 has REOPENED after a late morning accident shut down the roadway. Traffic is still moving slowly along the interstate.
Our WKYC crew on the scene say that three vehicles were involved. Two vehicles were traveling westbound on I-90 when one bumped into the other.
One of those two vehicles, a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Kevin McCue, 25, of Cleveland, crossed the grass median and struck an eastbound vehicle, a Chevy Cruze driven by Adam Couture, 21, of Gardner, Massachusetts, on his way back from visiting a friend in Michigan.
McCue turned 21 on Sunday. McCue, who is in teh National Guard, is a straight-A student at Mount Wachusett College in Gardner.
As of early Wednesday, a MetroHealth nursing supervisor says Couture is in fair condition and McCue remains in critical.
Our WKYC crew said there was military-type debris all over the highway, like fatigues, backpacks, etc.
Earlier Tuesday, police and fire were on the scene of an accident on Interstate 90 eastbound near the State Route 611 interchange. Images from the scene revealed that two cars were involved in the crash.
Medical units and firefighters were at the scene. Authorities have not released any information about what happened.
Two helicopters landed and took both drivers were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center with injuries.
The roadway just reopened about 12:45 p.m.
