One person was hospitalized after a crash in Steuben County late Friday night.
Around 11 p.m., deputies from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office were called to U.S. 20 and County Road 350 East.
Once police arrived, they found a vehicle driven by 19-year-old April Felts in the westbound lane of U.S. 20 and another vehicle driven by 41-year-old Tammy Blair in the eastbound lane. Investigators said it appears that Felts
was stopped in the eastbound lane of U.S. 20
The sheriff’s department said it appears Felts was stopped in the eastbound lane trying to make a left turn onto the county road when Blair rear-ended the vehicle. Felts was trapped in the vehicle for a short time before being
freed by the Angola Fire Department. Blair told investigators she didn’t see the vehicle before she hit it.
Felts was taken to the hospital with a head injury. Blair didn’t want to be treated. Both of the driver’s were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash and it remains under
investigation by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Angola City Police, Indiana DNR, Steuben County EMS, Angola Fire and Steuben County Communications.
