A 26-year-old Collinsville man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday night on Interstate 64 eastbound at Exit 69.

The man suffered a major head injury, according to Jefferson County Sheriff's Office incident logs. He was taken first to a local hospital and then later flown to a St. Louis hospital, said Illinois State Police Trooper Christopher Watson. His current condition is not known.

Watson said a 2000 Chevy pickup driven by Lucas A. Hunt, 24, of Collinsville, was traveling east on I-64 when the vehicle went off the road on the Exit 69 ramp. The driver allegedly over-corrected, then lost control of the vehicle. The truck rolled multiple times and the 26-year-old male passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

Watson said the driver was wearing a seat belt and did not require medical treatment. The 26-year-old was not wearing a seat belt, Watson said.

The accident was reported at 8:14 p.m. The state police are handling the investigation. Also responding to the scene were the sheriff's office, Woodlawn Fire Protection District and Litton Ambulance.

The incident remains under investigation and charges could be pending, Watson said.
