Winona, MN : Two people injured in Hwy. 61 crash in Winona on Tuesday, May 3, 2016
Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-car crash on Hwy. 61 in Winona.
Gordon E. Matthees, 86, and his passenger, Sandra A. Matthees, 77, both of Winona, both suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening after their car was struck and rolled into the southbound ditch, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
According to the patrol, Gordon Matthees was driving on Hwy. 61 in the southbound lanes in his Lincoln Town Car around 12:45 p.m. when the car was broadsided by a Lexus driven by David W. Sainich, 76, Winona, who was headed north from Bundy Boulevard into the intersection. Sainich had no apparent injuries, according to the patrol.
Traffic was temporarily reduced down to one lane on the southbound lanes of Hwy. 61. The Winona Police Department and Winona Area Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
