LEMON TWP, PA : A Tunkhannock Area school bus crash on Wednesday, December, 20th 2017
A Tunkhannock Area school bus crashed into the side of a 26-foot rental truck late Wednesday morning north of Tunkhannock, sending six students to the hospital.
State police said the truck, driven by Nilton Gomes, 38, of Brockton, Massachusetts, was stopped on Meshoppen Creek Road in Lemon Twp., Wyoming County, at 11:40 a.m., when it crossed Route 29 into the path of a northbound school bus, driven by Brenda Hoover, 61, of Monroe Twp.
The impact caused the truck to roll sideways onto the driver’s side.
Six students on the bus were transported to Tyler Memorial Hospital for medical evaluation or minor injuries. Their condition is not known.
Tunkhannock Area School District personnel did not return calls.
An investigation by Trooper Howard Piatt is ongoing pending review of bus video footage.
