PRAIRIEVILLE, LA : Two die in one-vehicle crash Sunday on I-10 West near Prairieville on Sunday, February 5th 2017
A Baton Rouge man and a St. James man were killed in a single-vehicle crash shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 10, according to Louisiana State Police.
The crash — on I-10 westbound west of LA 73 in Ascension Parish — took the lives of 23-year-old Jared Cunningham, of St. James, and 39-year-old Jeremy Jenkins, of Baton Rouge, said State Police spokesman Trooper First Class Bryan Lee.
The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Cunningham was traveling westbound on I-10 in a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado. For reasons still under investigation, Cunningham lost control of his vehicle and ran off the left side of the roadway into the median. Cunningham’s vehicle began to overturn and came to a stop after striking a tree, Lee said.
Both Cunningham and Jenkins were unrestrained, Lee said. They were pronounced dead at the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office.
