Seaford, DE : Greenwood juvenile seriously injured in crash on Tuesday, 30th October 2018

Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred in Seaford on Saturday.

The incident occurred on at approximately 1 p.m., when troopers responded to Hastings Farm Road, in the area of Old Furnace Road, for a report of a motor vehicle collision. Upon their arrival, EMTs were attempting to remove the driver from a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse. It was reported that his black SUV went off the road and struck a tree.

The vehicle was traveling westbound on Hastings Farm Road and exited the south side of the road, striking an electrical phone box before sideswiping a tree. The driver, a 17-year-old Greenwood juvenile, was not wearing a seatbelt. He was initially transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Christiana Hospital due to serious injuries. During the investigation, the trooper noticed an odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. In addition, EMS administered Narcan to the driver.

The driver is being charged with driving under the influence of drugs and traffic violations. The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
