The Wood County Sheriff's Department says a 19-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man was cited for impaired driving in a head-on crash that injured three people.
The vehicle Kyle Schwerzel was driving crossed the center line on state Highway 13/34 south of Rudolph about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, crashing into a northbound vehicle driven by a 30-year-old Rudolph woman, Sgt. John Hiller said Monday.
Schwerzel's vehicle rolled over and ended up on its roof, Hiller said in a statement.
A third vehicle came upon the scene and “slightly” hit Schwerzel's vehicle, Hiller said.
Schwerzel and a 24-year-old passenger in his vehicle were taken to a Marshfield hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff's department said.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, who was cited for driving without a valid driver's license, was taken to a Wisconsin Rapids hospital with minor injuries, Hiller said. A 7-year-old passenger in her car was not hurt.
Schwerzel was cited for causing injury while intoxicated, the sheriff's department said.
No other details were immediately released.
